How to maintain inkjet printers

Inkjet printers are becoming the first choice for home households because of their great efficiency at reasonable price and low noise. After long-term use, problems may occur so it’s important to properly maintain them. The following maintenance tips should be helpful for the daily use of inkjet printers.

  • Place the printer on a stable horizontal surface with no heavy objects on top of the machine. The front cover should be closed while working to prevent dust from entering the printer.
  • Do not unplug the power cable when the printer is running. It will damage the printer’s printing port, and possibly even your computer’s motherboard.
  • Regularly use the printer’s self-cleaning function to clean the print head. This will consume a small amount of ink but can help prevent dried ink from stacking up near the inkjet.
  • Ensure a clean room environment. If the room is filled with dust, it can easily lead to poor lubrication of the inkjet to cause inaccurate printings and other malfunctions and crashes.
  • If the new ink cartridge is not used temporarily, be sure to place the ink outlet downward.
  • Inkjet printers that are not frequently used should be turned on at least once a week to avoid clogging of the print head due to ink volatilization.
  • Try to avoid too long continuous printing time. Long printing time can easily cause the print head to overheat. It affects the service life of the printer’s nozzles, and  seriously affects the printing quality and accuracy, and could even significantly shorten the service life of the printing nozzle.
